Impact of Virtual Reality

Carbonate Supercomputer

This online course helped users become familiar with IU's supercomputers; from storage and security best practices to job execution. It was commensurate with the in-person Intro to HPC workshop.

Research Desktop (RED)

This online course helped users learn to use the graphical interface, RED, to access IU's supercomputers. Learn storage options, security, the RED desktop features, and practical experiences.

Jetstream Overview: A national research and education cloud

This workshop introduced IU researchers to Jetstream, a cloud resource supporting education and research. *Virtual workshop available online.*

Storage Options and Data Management Best Practices

National Center for Genome Analysis Support

The National Center for Genome Analysis Support (NCGAS) offered training and outreach online and in-person at Indiana University (IUB and IUPUI) and at national/international conferences. NCGAS workshop attendees became more efficient in genome analysis via supercomputers and software designed specifically for their field of research/study.

Services for Digital Humanities and Creative Activities

Parallel Programming for Data Science (Matlab, R, Python)

This workshop introduces strategies to utilize multiple processors to solve research problems using Matlab, R, and Python.

Parallel Programming for Modeling and Simulation (C, C++, Fortran)

This workshop presents an introduction to using threads and message passing in traditional languages on IU's supercomputers.

Intermediate Parallel Programming for Supercomputers

A full-day workshop for those comfortable with basic UNIX/LINUX, and using Karst or a similar supercomputer, to become proficient in using MPI to solve parallel programing problems.

Storage for High Performance Computing

Learn the basics of using storage on IU’s supercomputing systems, including data lifecycles and types, moving data in and out of IU systems, and finish with hands-on experience.

Statistical and Numerical Software for HPC

Learn about SAS, R, and Matlab on HPC systems, including functions, submitting jobs, and setting environmental variables for performance boosts.

The Supercomputing for Everyone Series (SC4ES) aims to bring more users into the realm of advanced computing, whether it be visualization, computation, analytics, storage, or any related discipline. Research Technologies can take you to the next level of computing.

Supercomputing for Everyone Series workshops and seminars are led by personnel from Research Technologies, a division of University Information Technology Services and a center in the Pervasive Technology Institute at Indiana University.
