Introduction to Research Posters
Description of the video:
Hello everyone, and welcome to Creating Research Posters! I'm Beth with IT Training at Indiana University, and I'll be introducing you to the course.
You’ve probably seen research posters at conferences or at poster competitions – they’re a great way to present information, either on their own or as part of a full-on presentation.
If you’ve never made a research poster, though, the whole process of making a research poster might be intimidating. Some research posters out there look really complicated, or look like they’ve been designed by a fancy marketing department. How on earth do you get started putting together a research poster – especially a good one?
Well, you’re in the right place – the course Creating Research Posters will help you get started making a research poster if you’ve never made one before, and for those of you who’ve made posters before, there may be some helpful tips and suggestions in the course that’ll help you make research posters that really stand out.
As part of the course, I’ll show you how to prepare content for a research poster, including text and images. I’ll also highlight some design principles that will help you lay out your poster, and then I’ll walk you through the process of making a poster file and adding content in three popular programs used for making research posters – PowerPoint, Illustrator, and InDesign.
