What is 404?

Ahh... The ubiquitous 404 error!

An HTTP Status Code of 404 means that the requested file is not on the server. This is different from 403, 401, and 400 in that the file is just missing! There is a myth that 404 refers to a room at CERN that was having difficulties connecting to one of the earliest prototypes of the internet, but it's just that, a myth.

404 is probably the most common error on the web. If a web developer moves, deletes, or renames a resource, users trying to access the resource from an old URL will receive this error.
