ArcGIS II: Foundations in Spatial Analysis and Data Management in GIS

This course introduces advanced concepts in spatial data analysis, solving spatial problems and map creation. Primarily the focus will be on understanding sources error in spatial data, using utilities in the ArcGIS desktop suite to manipulate and create spatial data, advanced cartographic tools for customizing maps, and finding solutions to project-specific problems that can arise in a spatial study.

Participants will:

  • solve spatial problems
  • learn about sources error in spatial data
  • manipulate and create spatial data
  • use advanced cartographic tools to customize maps
  • solve project specific problems

Participants should already be able to:

  • find, open, and use basic tools in ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox applications
  • understand the properties and types of spatial data
  • add and control the appearance of spatial data in ArcMap
  • add essential map elements in ArcMap
